Strontium Carbonate
Strontium carbonate is a source of strontium oxide in glazes, which is useful as a flux. It is also used as a safer substitute for barium carbonate, particularly when the desired effect is a color responsive matte. If you subsittute strontium carbonate into a barium carbonate containing glaze, use 75% (by weight) and test in a small batch to determine suitability.
